Mirror Mirror on the Wall

“Excuse me, Sir. Sir?” a gentle woman’s voice said.

“Huh? Wha?” Dave said.

The bright white light vanished. The stillness had ended. Dave was startled and scanned his environment. Cornelius and the masked woman were missing. The fallen masked man was absent including all the blood and evidence. Had it been a dream? What was the bright white light? Confusion ran amok in Dave’s mind. Strangely the clock on the wall read twelve thirty-two.

“Sir, we’ve reached Woking Station. Is this your stop?”

Dave looked up was instantly taken aback by the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on staring at him. Her shoulder-length blonde hair curled towards the opening in her blouse and his eyes settled on her voluptuous bosom as she leaned towards him. The lovely fragrance of lavender mixed with a hint of vanilla filled his nostrils. He briefly closed his eyes and breathed in a deep breath of the lovely aroma.

“I, uh, yes, umm, yes Woking. My stop.”

“Are you making a connection?”

“Good Lord I wish.”

“Sir?”

Dave swallowed hard and seemed at a loss for words. He never paid homage to his primal urges and sexual desires, but she ensorcelled him. Dave stood up and gathered up his bag looking around trying to gather his bearings. He looked like a mess. She chuckled and reached over to begin fixing his shirt collar and adjusting his jacket for him.

“Your friend mentioned to wake you and make sure you connected to Salisbury. Is that accurate, Sir?” She said.

“Um, yes, yes I believe so. My friend? My name is Dave by the way.”

Dave outstretched a hand toward her. As she finished fixing his attired she complied and shook his hand flashing a gorgeous smile at him. His cheeks blushed red, and he was enthralled and uncomfortable in her presence.

“Yes, I didn’t catch his name, but he was some sort of agent.” She said, “I’m Courtney, it’s nice to make your acquaintance Detective Willits. You seem awfully young to be a detective.”

“Oh, yes, yes. I get that a lot. I assure you it’s all true though. Courtney, I must be off.”

“Have a lovely day, Sir.” Courtney said, “Oh, I almost forgot he asked me to deliver this to you personally.”

She pulled an envelope out of her bra, which drew another gulp from Dave, and handed it to him. With a smile she turned and began to make her rounds towards the passengers in the adjacent car. Dave approached the door of the train, and he heard her voice call out to him.

“Platform four, Sir. Your connection will be on Platform four.”

Dave looked back at her and saw her smiling at him. He got lost in her smile, but he was abruptly brought back to earth by colliding with the side of the doorway. Embarrassed he made his way off the train and made his way towards platform 4. Reaching the platform, he sat down on a bench and stared down at the envelope. Inside there was a letter and a ticket to Salisbury from Woking.
